LOW BACK PAIN TAKING OPIOID?
This study is looking for patients 18 years of age or older who have had a recent history of moderate to severe chronic low back pain (CLBP) for at least 3 months, who have been on a stable dose of opioid medication for at least 14 days to control their pain and may be looking to try a new option for pain management.

The purpose of the clinical research study is to evaluate the investigational study medication (CAM2038) as weekly or monthly buprenorphine injections compared to traditional opioid treatments that are taken daily to manage pain. Buprenorphine has potential benefits which may include:

  1. Better tolerance compared to other medications you may be taking
  2. Less constipation than with other opioid use
  3. Less digestive issues compared to other opioids
  4. Less chance of respiratory depression when compared to other opioids
  5. Less negative effects on the glands that secrete vital hormones when compared to other opioids.
  6. Does not have the same potential for causing abnormal ECG’s
  7. Ability to fight off infections is not reduced like with morphine and fentanyl use
  8. Less dependence on opioids for pain management

Participation in the clinical research study is completely voluntary and may last up to 18 months. If you are eligible to be in the study, you will receive all study-related tests, procedures and medication or placebo (no active drug) as well as additional rescue medication pills at no cost to you. There are additional requirements to be in the study that will be discussed with you to determine if you are eligible to participate.
